Out Of Office currently runs at a loss. The weekly content and the majority of events are free, because I believe all self-employed women deserve support. By becoming a Patreon you can help keep all of this free, and as a thank you, you’ll gain free access to the monthly webinars and accountability sessions with like-minded women. If you can’t afford to support it each month, you can also make a one-off Ko-fi donation.
Morning, Colleague!
I know I said I was having this week off…and I am…but I just had to pop into your inbox briefly to let you know a couple of quick things. (New subscribers, I promise there is usually more to an issue than this…)
And also because this quick message means I can use the word ‘newsflash’ which I always imagined would be incorporated into every story I wrote when I became a journalist. #LoisLiedToMe
First off, I have two new events to mention.
May’s webinar is a goodun, even if I say so myself. I’ve managed to secure access to a man who very rarely agrees to webinars, but has bucketloads of great advice. It’s Ross Sutherland, of the award-winning Imaginary Advice podcast, who will be answering our questions about how to start a podcast. Everything from choosing a solid idea, to making a product that’s sustainable month after month, to making ££ from it. (And Ross makes his full-time living from his). Honestly the guy is a genius…that’s why I married him. Come and watch us being very professional on Thursday May 20th at 1pm. Tickets are free to Patreons or for sale here.
I’m bringing back the ‘work together’ afternoon in May, after the last one proved so popular. Basically it’s a 2.5 hour window (afternoon of Friday 14th) where we work on our own projects while connected on Zoom. It’s a nice opportunity to get the benefits of office life without the faff. And it’s free. A bit of chat, a bit of work, a lot of fun! More details here.
Next, shout-outs to two things which have made me very excited recently. The first is the launch of Freelancer Magazine, created by Sophie Cross, which is out now. It’s always exciting to see a new print magazine, and even more so when it’s aimed at us. Do check it out.
Secondly, as a large percentage of you are writers, make sure to follow the new account for the Freelance Writing Awards. Launched by two of my favourite journalists, this looks like an epic event.
In other words…lots to look forward to in May (and beyond)!
See you next week with a proper newsletter.
Don’t forget to come and join other like-minded self-employed women in our private Facebook group for OOO readers.
